Michele "Mike" Pulice
October 13, 1947 ~ November 1, 2021
Michele “Mike” Pulice, a loving father and grandfather passed away peacefully at Select Specialty Care Hospital in Weirton on All Saints Day, November 1, 2021. He was 74 years old.
Born in Palombelli, Belmonte Calabria, Italy, on October 13, 1947, Michele was the older of two sons born to the late Giacomino and Elena Pulice.
In 1968, at the age of 21, Michele made his voyage to America with his father and brother Albert to begin their new life. In addition, their mother, Elena, made her journey in 1970 to be with the family and start her new life with the family.
Michele spent thirty-plus years working as a general laborer at Weirton Steel, but his natural talent went far beyond the mill; He was a carpenter and cabinet maker by trade. His love of cherry wood enabled him to make and design some of the finest cabinets. His creations were ever-present in the houses he built with his brother Albert and his father, Giacomino. His results can be seen throughout the city of Weirton, but none ever more present than the houses that he built for his family here in Weirton on Wanda Street.
Like his mother before him, Michele embraced his Italian heritage by immersing himself in hard work, providing for his family, creating fantastic food for everyone to enjoy, and always having an outstanding, enviable garden. Still, most of all, one of his greatest joys was cooking for his family around the holidays.
After the passing of his mother, Elena, Michele had a heavy heart for many reasons. In losing his mother, he lost his best friend, his fellow card player, and the one individual that introduced him and helped him develop his diligent demeanor.
In addition to his parents, Michele was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Cleora Pulice, whom he married on April 22, 1972, and passed away on March 15, 2015.
Michele will be fondly remembered with an abundance of love and respect by his son Michael G. Pulice, daughters Elaine (Albert) Vista and Adriana (Jeramie) Nagy, grandchildren, Antonio, Julian, and Layla Vista and Leyland, and Lauren Nagy, brother Albert (Aurora) Pulice, niece and nephew Dante and Isabella Pulice, with many other family members and friends sharing in their loss.
Visitation will be Thursday, 4-7 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, at 11:00 AM at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton.
Entombment will follow in Saint Paul’s Cemetery.
