minnie fox

Minnie Lenore Fox of Weirton, a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023, with her daughter by her side.  She was 94 years old and was blessed by a long and joyful life surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones across the tri-state area and beyond.

She was born in Grantsville, W.Va., on September 7, 1928, to Albert and Ida Grace (Valentine) Rine.

Minnie graduated from Grantsville High School in 1946 where she was a cheerleader and member of the yearbook staff. She moved to Weirton with her husband Garold in 1950 where she raised her daughter Deborah and was ever-present in the lives of her granddaughters Ashley and Hillary.

She was a founding member of the Evangel Baptist Church and later attended Mercy Baptist Church in Weirton.  She was always true to her faith, enjoying her mission work and helping others in need. An avid football fan, Minnie enjoyed nothing more than Sunday services followed by a home-cooked meal with her family and a Steelers win.

In addition to her parents, Minnie was preceded in death by her husband Garold Floyd Fox who passed away on December 22, 2003; brothers RW, Phillip, Donald, and Doyle Rine; sisters Mary Ireland, Wilma Nester, Patricia Robinson, Leona Dewitt, and Louise Carey.

She will be profoundly missed by her loving family, daughter Deborah (David) Norman of New Cumberland; granddaughters Ashley (Andrew) Castelli of New York City and Hillary (Joshua) Rhodes of Morgantown; great-grandchildren Sephora, Levi, Pierce, and Micah Rhodes; and
grand-dog Charlotte.

Private family services were held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made in Minnie’s memory to Foster WV, Chestnut Ridge Church,

Minnie’s family would like to extend a thank you for the exceptional care she received from Dr.Makar, Mark Cummings, and his staff at Wyngate and Amedisys Hospice.

  7. Debbie and Family – So sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. Minnie was an integral part of my childhood and my mother’s best friend! We were blessed to have her in our lives.

  8. Minnie was a good friend who was always concerned with my health and well being along with my family’s. She taught me a lesson about the “Joy of Giving” that I will never forget. She loved her family including Grandkids and Great Grandkids. She was always so proud of them all. I miss her friendship, prayers and words of encouragement. I am sure you all miss her greatly.

  9. Candle Selection 8My dear friend Minnie was one tough, godly cookie…there will never be another woman like her. I loved stopping at her house to have a visit and deliver her Mary Kay order. We shared our Christian faith and spoke of how good God was to us. She supported my business and was determined she was going to take care of her skin til she couldn’t anymore. Loved her for that too! Debbie and family, I love you and am thankful for your mother’s friendship and yours.
