mitchell joseph sr.
Mitchell C. Joseph Sr, 80, of Weirton, passed away October 17, 2009, at the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville, OH. He was born January 31, 1929 in Aliquippa, Pa, the son of the late Mike C. and Elizabeth J. Szemethy Joseph. His daughter Carolyn Price and stepson Thomas Wylie, brothers Eddie and Dale Joseph, sister Geraldine Bennett, half sister Margaret Gazekes, also preceded him in death. Mitchell retired from National Steel Corporation where he worked in the Coke Plant with 30 years of service. He was a member of the 25 year club of Weirton Steel, the Tri State Church of God, the Weirton Moose #688, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Mitchell served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army. Mitchell is survived by his wife Hilda Nell Joseph of Weirton; sons John Joseph and wife Tina of Canonsburg, Pa, Mitchell Joseph Jr. of Athens, TN; daughter Phyllis Joseph and her son Richard Crimm both of Toronto, OH; daughter in law, Alice Wylie of Wellsburg, WV and Alice's daughter Meredith Wylie-Adney and husband Craig of Wheeling, WV; half brother Donald Stonert of Indiana; sister, Agatha Wilkins of Morgantown, WV; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 10AM until 12 noon the time of the service, at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St, Weirton, WV. Rev Ray Cooper will officiate. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with military graveside services conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad.
