nancy ludewig
Nancy L. Ludewig of Toronto passed away peacefully on Monday, July 4, 2022, under the watchful care of Valley Hospice with her loving children by her side. She was 85 years old. Nancy was born on June 1, 1937, in Steubenville, OH., the only child of James L. and Martina (Lovy) Brown. She was very devoted to her Catholic faith, most recently attending Saint Joseph Catholic Parish in Toronto. Nancy graduated from Follansbee High School as a member of the graduating class of 1954. She spent her entire life in the area raising her family, keeping her home, and adoring the time in which she had spent with her great-grandchildren. She spent her spare time enjoying a good game of cards, bingo at Riverside Manor, and dining out, but she found much joy in the Hallmark Channel. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Ludewig whom she married on February 2, 1957, and who passed away on January 28, 1999, and her in-laws, Frank, and Catherine Ludewig. Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Cara (Tom) Kamarec of Weirton, sons Ray (Teresa) Ludewig and Mark (Sally) Ludewig, all of Toronto, grandchildren Matt (Katie) Ludewig, Mike (Michaela) Ludewig, Lindsay (Jared) Pinkerton, Mitchell (Nicole) Ludewig, Stacey (Justin) Sears, Shelby Kamarec and her significant other Terry Levers, six great-grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law, Florence Kostur and Kathy Fox, and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family may visit Nancy’s family on Thursday, July 7, at Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Parish in Toronto from 10 AM until the time of the 11:30 mass. Fr. Thomas Vennitti will preside. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Valley Hospice, 10686 OH-150, Rayland, OH., 43943 or Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Parish, 1225 North River Ave., Toronto, OH., 43964. 5. When Nancy and I were in 6th,7th and 8th grade, we were in Girl Guards, the Salvation Army equivalent of Girl Scouts. Nancy and I were kitchen aids the last year we went to camp. It was my first job and perhaps it was Nancy’s as well. It was quite an adventure being away from Colliers and somewhat independent. I think we made $20 for two weeks work scarping plates and cleaning up the kitchen for campers. I had many other great times with Nancy and her mother. I learned to play cards at her house. My mother thought cards were the tools of the devil back then. Also her dad took carloads of girls to softball games out of town. So many happy memories. Mary Jane (Gamble) Copeland

  9. I am so sorry for your loss. Nancy lived across the hall from my Mom, Bonnie and they were really close friends. Nancy cared for my Mom with all her heart. She even took care of her dog Belle after my Mom’s passing which helped me so much. I am sure Nancy and Bonnie will be story telling and watching Christmas in July on the Hallmark channel from above.
