Nannie B. Smith, 95, of Weirton, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at The Inn at Wyngate. Born April 27, 1912 in Elmwood, TN, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ada Gillespie Ballard. Nannie was also preceded in death by her husband Carlton M. Smith, son Robert E. Smith and brothers Leonard J. Ballard and James L. Farley. Nannie was a homemaker who loved to crochet for her family and friends. She was a member of the Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church and was a former member/ charter member of the Three Score Senior Citizens. Nannie’s survivors include her daughter Marlene Hare and her husband James of Weirton; brother Dr. Ray Farley of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren Lois Idleman and her husband Joe of Charleston, SC; Carl D. Smith and his wife Teresa of Aberdeen, MD, Jeanine Worden and her husband Tom of Silver Spring, MD, James A. Hare of Lima, OH and John D. Hare and his wife Mary of Derwood, MD; 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. The family will receive friends Friday 6-8 pm and Saturday from 10 am until the 11 am funeral services at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Reverend William C. Stout will officiate. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church, 121 Ivy Street, Weirton, WV 26062.
