Nick P. Apesos

Nick P. Apesos, 68, of Weirton died Saturday November 10, 2012, at the Trinity West Medical Center in Steubenville, OH.
Born on July 24, 1944 in Weirton, WV, Nick was a son of the late Tony and Theodora Sfikas Apesos. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Mackey, and a brother, Tom Apesos.
A Vietnam Veteran, Nick was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired from Weirton Steel after 38 years in the Blast Furnace, where he worked as a Blower and tended the stoves.
He was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Weirton and the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club. He was also active in the former Weirton Jaycee's.
He is survived by his wife, Opal Derby Apesos, whom he married on March 21, 1997; two daughters, Nikki A Cline and her fianc John Williston of Weirton and Terri Lancaster and her husband David of Colliers, WV; a sister, Mary Apesos of Weirton, WV; grandchildren, Taylor and Jillian Cline, Brian Lancaster, and Jennifer Wattenschaidt; and a great granddaughter, Stacy Wattenschaidt.
Visitation will be 2-4 7 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV.
Additional visitation will be Wednesday 10 AM until time of Services at 11 AM at the All Saints Greek Orthodox Church Weirton, WV.
Rev. Fr. Frank Milanese will preside.
Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton

So sorry to hear of the passing of Nick. My heartfelt condolences to Nick’s wife and family. Worked with Nick many years on the blast furnace through good and bad times, we always managed to survive. Rest in peace Nick.

Very sorry to read about Nick’s passing. Worked w/ him for many years at the Blast Furnace. He was one of the people I could rely on when I needed help. He will be sorely missed!
Sorry for your loss. My first husband was in the Jaycees with Nick. May God be with you and your family. Tell Nicki I said hello,I don’t know if she will remember me, she was about 3 or 4.
Nick was a wonderful neighbor and will be greatly missed.

So sorry to learn of Nick’s passing. We worked together in the Blast Furnance at Weirton Steel for a couple of years.He was always cheerful and helped me through difficult days.
Knowing Nick was a treat. He was well read and knew a whole lot on American and even Greek History. I’m sorry my prayers weren’t answered. I was really hoping Nick would be around for a much longer time. He will truly be missed not only by me, but anyone who knew him as well.
