paul scott
Paul Newton Scott, 72, of Weirton, a loving and kind husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Sunday morning at his home, after a long health battle that started with esophageal cancer. Born on October 1, 1947, in Pittsburgh, PA, Paul was a son of Harry McNary and Dorothy Newton Scott. He was raised in Burgettstown, PA., and graduated from Burgettstown High School in 1965. Mr. Scott served in the United States Army as a field radio mechanic. Upon his return from serving overseas, Paul met and married Paulette Rock of Slovan, PA. With over 47 years of marriage, Paul and Paulette were blessed with a daughter, son, and a granddaughter. Paul worked many years for Standard Slag and Homer Laughlin China Company. He loved technology and was always interested in electronics. He had a thirst for knowledge and spent most of his retirement learning new things daily and sharing them with his family. He enjoyed making things with his hands and collecting canes. For relaxation, he enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel or shows on woodworking, home improvements, and fishing. Most of all, Paul will be remembered as a dedicated family man who cherished spending time with his wife. He would often take her shopping and would just enjoy window shopping until she was ready to go home. He was also known to be goofy at times, cracking jokes just to make you laugh. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Scott. He will be remembered with love by his wife Paulette Rock Scott, his son, Jeffrey John (Jessica) Scott; his daughter, Mel (Matt) Ballas; his precious granddaughter, Riley Ballas; and his sister, Joyce S. Neil. Private family only visitation will be held Wednesday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
