pete simakis
Pete Simakis, 73 of Follansbee, WV, died Wednesday May 9, 2001 at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born on November 22, 1927 in Colliers WV, the son of the late George and Maria Demis Simakis. His three sisters, Jean Lombardo, Angie Simakis and Tula Villas also preceded Pete in death. Before his retirement, Pete owned and operated three gasoline service stations, Holiday Gulf, Sunset Texaco and Wintersville Texaco. He also served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church. He is survived by, his companion of many years, Betty Fadse of Follansbee; two sons Robert P. of Schriever Louisiana, Marcus C. of Wintersville, OH; a daughter, Lisa Childers of Weirton, WV; three brothers, George of Colliers, Mike of Weirton and Tommy of Arizona; two sisters Diane Baktis of Weirton and Evelyn Callas of Steubenville; seven grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Visitation will be 7-9 PM Thursday and 2-4 & 7-9 PM Friday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Final arrangements are incomplete. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery with Military Graveside Services by the American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard, VFW 2716 Firing Squad and the Tri State Marine Corps.
