Peter Sasyn

Peter Sasyn, 89, of Weirton, WV passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Valley Hospice Care Center North. Born in 1927, in Poland, he was son of the late Walenty and Katrina (Paszt) Sasyn.
Peter worked for Weirton Steel operating a transfer car in the blast furnace. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Genowefa (Zak) Sasyn; sons Henry (Debbie) Sasyn of Vienna, WV, and John (Kimberly) Sasyn of Garfield Heights, OH; six grandchildren, brother, John (Llewellyn) Sasyn of Niagara Falls, New York and sisters Mary Zajac of Weirton, WV, and Czesia Orlowski of Cleveland, Ohio. Predeceased by Zygmunt "Ziggy" Sasyn, Anna Sobczynski, Leokadia Ziemba, Regina Banasik, Joseph Sasyn, Janina "Janka" Wodnicki, and Helen Sasyn.
Friends will be received on Tuesday from 4-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton, where a Rosary Service will be held at 5 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart of Mary Church. Rev. Father Anthony G. Thurston will officiate.
Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.
