Pietro Giovanni Ianni

Pietro Giovanni Ianni, 73, of Weirton passed away on Tuesday September 29, 2015, at the Weirton Medical Center. Born on January 23, 1942, in Belmonte Calabria, Italy, Pietro was a son of the late Giuseppe and Teresa Marano Ianni. Pietro worked as a greaser for Weirton Construction a division of Starvaggi Industries as well as working concrete jobs on the side for many years. He will always be remembered for his thirst of knowledge as he spent many hours reading books. His Italian heritage was proudly portrayed in his love of woodworking, gardening, wine making and making soppressata. He was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, and the Teamsters Union. Pietro is survived by his wife, Amelina "Emily" Porco Ianni, whom he married on September 26, 1970; his two daughters, Maria Schifano (Frank) of Weirton, WV and Joanna Morales (Antonio) of Gardena, CA; a brother, Giovanni Ianni (Rosina) and a sister, Rosa Magnone (Giovanni) all of Belmonte Calabria, Italy; three grandchildren, Lorenzo, Giantonio and Sylvanna. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM on Friday at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery.
