Rachael Glenna (Fatherly) Konchar was born to the late Harold and Glenna (Chenoweth) Fatherly on January 19, 1953. Rachael was the middle child, sandwiched between sister Brenda and brother Ralph. She was a shy, young girl who loved her horse. She met her husband, William Sava Konchar, while working the concession stand at Tomlinson Run State Park. They dated while she attended Oak Glen High School and he, Marshall University. Rachael and Will married on April 3, 1971. Theirs was a storybook romance that would continue throughout their life together. Within a few years they welcomed son George Matthew Konchar and daughter Michelle Dawn Beal into their loving family. Rachael stayed at home for a while to enjoy being a Mom. Eventually, she decided it was time to put her people-skills back to work. She held positions in the Hancock County Clerk's office and at Sellitti, Nogay and McCune, PLLC, where she was known for her bright, cheery disposition even first thing in the morning. Rachael was compassionate, patient, and efficient with an ear for sarcasm and a genuine laugh that could put people at ease. But when Rachael's daughter asked her to join Little Einsteins Preschool as a teacher's assistant, she couldn't resist. For ten amazing years she worked with her daughter while helping to shape growing minds. Rachael enjoyed simplicity: sitting on the deck overlooking the beautiful country-side, a good book or cup of coffee in-hand; celebrating life with music, stories, and laughter; stargazing, holding hands, giving long hugs, and snuggling-up with a cat or two. Marriages brought new family; Rachael welcomed Daughter-in law Cindy (Allison) and Son-in-law Jeremie to her home. And of course there were her treasured grandchildren: Logan, Mason, Bodie, Josie and Crosbie, who brought joy to her life every day. Rachael cherished family time, and enjoyed their trips to Myrtle Beach. However, everyone thought it best that Grammy go by plane while they drove. (She could be a bit of a wreck on a road trip!) Rachael shared every moment of every day with someone she loved, through good times and bad. She believed she was blessed, and she was. Rachael retired to face the challenges of bladder cancer, which unexpectedly spread to liver, lungs, and stomach. She was a hero to her husband, children, grandchildren, family, and friends. Rachael persevered in spite of overwhelming obstacles. She never gave up and always had hope. Rachael was released from her three-year struggle with cancer on December 10, 2016. She is beloved and will be missed by family, friends, and her fur-babies. Rachael believed in being kind to everything that lives. In lieu of flowers, Rachael would have wanted loved ones to make donations to the Humane Society of the United States. Visitation will be held at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV on Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 pm where services will be held Thursday at 11:00 am. Reverend Kara Rowe will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.

  9. I have such fond memories of sweet Rachael. Met her when I was engaged to her cousin Bob Ross. I will never forget her bright shining smile and her friendliness. She is/was an angel among us. God bless her entire family with love and compassion.

  10. Will, George and Michelle, I was saddened to hear about Rachael. I always enjoyed talking to her at family gatherings and when she went by my Mom’s house. May God bless you during this difficult time.

  11. Brother, I never knew your mother; however, from knowing you as a friend for years exemplifies just how good of a person that she was. Your father was a very fortunate man to find ” that one in a million.” You and your family is and always will be fortunate from her being a part in all of your lives. I prayed for your mom’s health every single day once that I knew of her condition. George, one of my basic philosophies is that when a person keeps the people who passed before them is to celebrate their life. When a person is remembered they will always live. Down the road there will be those many things that will make you smile when you think of your mom. I know that it happens to me. Teach the next generation about your mom. Brother, as a friend, Fraternally and union-wise, we can talk anytime or when you’re ready. That’s what a friend is for.
