Raymond Kenneth Darnell passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at Trinity West Hospice in Steubenville; he was 91 years old. He was born May 23, 1929, in Tyler County, West Virginia, to the late Alvie and Rena Dawson Darnell. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Neva June Flanagan Darnell, on July 13, 2004. Raymond worked for the Weirton Steel Corporation as a crane operator for 32 years. He attended Tyler County Schools and served his country proudly with the United States Army from 1951-1953. An outdoorsman at heart, Raymond enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and cutting grass. He was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 year club. He also enjoyed traveling during his retirement to many places, especially to Clearwater and Tarpon Springs, Florida, and visiting his son in Moody, Texas. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Tom Darnell of Weirton, Brian(Stacey) Darnell of Weirton, Bob Darnell of Moody, Texas, and his grandson Josh(Lori) Darnell of Oregon, Ohio. Raymond’s family will receive his friends Saturday, October 10, from 1 until 3 pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Interment will take place in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens All in attendance are encouraged to wear a face covering and practice social distancing. Share tributes at www.grecohertnick.com.
