Richard Banfield Jr.
February 6, 1926 ~ January 27, 2007
Richard “Dick” Banfield Jr., 80, of Steubenville, OH passed away January 27, 2007 at Trinity Medical Center West.
He was born February 6, 1926 in Portsmouth, OH, the son of the late Richard and Irene Shadick Banfield. His son Richard Banfield and sisters Margaret Parks and Mary Lou Mayhew also preceded him in death.
Richard retired from the C & P Telephone Company where he was an operator in the test board center with 38 years of service. He was Protestant by faith and was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Dick enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed WVU football games and basketball games, as well as watching the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine Boals Banfield of Steubenville, OH; son Mark Banfield of Steubenville, OH; daughter in law Rhonda Banfield of Weirton, WV; grandchildren Amanda Waronsky and her husband Clint, Alissa Brun and her husband John and, Todd, Michele, and Kristen Banfield; great grandchildren Christian and Mya Waronsky and Alessia and Gianna Brun. Dick is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 3, 2007 from 12 Noon until 1:00PM, the time of service at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St, Weirton, WV. Rev. Chuck Jerman will officiate.
Interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery, Wellsville, OH.

Banfield Family, My deepest sympathy for the passing of Mr.Banfield. I played for him in the Pony League baseball. In the years after, I used to stand with him along the fence at Weir High Stadium to watch Weir High + Madonna games. He was truly a gentleman.My prayers are with your family. Steve Klash

Sorry to hear about your lose. I remember your grandfather cheering us on at softball games, he was a great supporter of you guys.
