Richard Y. “Budge” Solomon, 67, of Weirton died Thursday December 30, 2004, at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born on October 27, 1937, in New Castle, PA, the son of the late Richard M. and Genevieve Yount Solomon. Budge retired from Weirton Steel, after forty years of service, as a machine operator. He served his country as a medic in the United States Army. He was an avid bowler, and bowled in the Weirton Steel Leagues. He also loved to golf and travel. He never met a stranger. Rich was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club, a former coach of the Termites, and a former member of the Moose Lodge 688. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Montanaro Solomon; his son Richard M. Solomon and his wife Miriam; his daughter, Tracy DiBacco, and her husband Terry, all of Weirton; two sisters, Nancy Bottorf of Hollywood MD, and Elizabeth Herceg of Washington, WV; three grandchildren, Ricky and Courtney Solomon, and Shelby DiBacco; a step granddaughter, Breiane DiBacco. Visitation will be 1-3 and 7-9 PM Sunday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, where funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday. Rev. Patty Bucey Beagle will preside. Entombment with military services conducted by the VFW Firing Squad, and the American Legion Evert Maki Post 10 Honor Guard will follow at the Saint Paul Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church 140 Walnut Street Weirton, WV 26062
