Robert Earl Toothman
November 28, 1939 ~ July 12, 2021
Robert Earl Toothman of Weirton passed away following a lengthy illness at the Weirton Medical Center on July 12, 2021; he was 81 years old.
He was born in Steubenville on November 28, 1939. One of four children born to Hubert Earl and Mary Elizabeth Hartung Toothman. Robert was educated in the Hancock County School system, graduating from Weir High in 1955 and enlisting as a proud member of the United States Air Force on November 28, 1956. Following his discharge, Robert was employed as a truck driver for many years, working for Kroger’s, Tri-State, and Atlas Van lines.
Robert enjoyed spending his time hunting, playing his acoustic guitar, and singing religious songs with his brother Paul. His family claims he had a competitive spirit (probably something he acquired in the military) it would frequently surface during their famous “Poker Nights.”
There was no doubt of his conviction toward the Lord; he was an ordained minister, a Protestant by faith, and regularly attended the Colliers Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Patty Toothman, daughter Wendy Toothman, brother Paul Toothman and sister Betty Jean Chenoweth.
Mr. Toothman will be remembered with love by his wife, Judith Schroeder Toothman of Weirton, whom he married, February 4, 2019. His sons Robert Toothman of Paris, Todd (Virginia Thomas) Toothman of Weirton, Mike and Robert Toothman of Ohio, daughter Tammy (Wayne) Ramsey of Weirton, stepchildren Jay (Sara) and Bill (Melissa) Hays both of Steubenville, Greg (Kelly) Haynes of Weirton, Lorrain Reed of North Carolina, sister June Howell of Clinton, PA., fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Robert’s family’s request for cremation has been honored, no services are planned at this time.
