robert yuhas

Robert Edward Yuhas, of Smithfield, OH., passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 20, 2024. He was 87 years old.

Born on October 21, 1937, in Homestead, PA, Robert was the son of John and Catherine (Chismar) Yuhas. A graduate of Munhall High School, he went on to dedicate many years of hard work as a crane operator at US Steel Homestead Works before retiring.

Robert lived a life full of passion and joy. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished his time fishing and hunting in the Marienville, PA, area. His family was the center of his world, and he especially adored his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his favorite son-in-law, Mark.

A man of faith, Robert attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Wintersville. He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, from cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers to planting his annual vegetable garden each spring, to riding snowmobiles. His culinary skills were well known, particularly his talent for smoking chicken in his trusty smoker.

Robert had a keen eye for detail, a trait reflected in the meticulous care he took of his lawn, ensuring it was always perfectly mowed to his high standards. He loved card games, including poker and Texas Hold’em, and enjoyed trips to local casinos.

Robert and Shirley were proud members of the Marienville VFW Post 1424, where they shared many cherished memories.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister Elizabeth Fekety, and brother John Yuhas.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Shirley Sachs Yuhas of Smithfield, daughters Patricia Yuhas of Mingo Junction, and Susan (Mark) Dawida of West Mifflin, PA., along with six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Robert’s wish to be cremated will be honored.

He will be cremated at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory, 3219 Main Street, Weirton.

No services are planned at this time.

Robert leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and devotion that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
