Robert Gene Travaglino, 84, of Weirton, passed away on the evening of Friday, June 20, 2025, at the Weirton Geriatric Center.

Born on January 19, 1941, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, Robert was one of two sons of Egidio and Mary Louise Magnone Travaglino. A 1958 graduate of Weir High School, Robert devoted his life to hard work, family, and faith.

He gave 35 years of dedicated service to Weirton Steel, where he worked as a highly skilled welder and later shared his expertise as a respected welding instructor. He contributed not only to Weirton Steel but also taught at Wheeling-Pitt and the former Jeff Tech, touching countless lives with his craftsmanship and mentorship.

He was a member of the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club and a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church.

Robert continued his professional journey with the First Choice America Credit Union as part of their Educational Board. His time there allowed him to travel and meet many people around the country.

Robert spent many years coaching Little League Baseball, instilling in young athletes the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance. In his leisure time, he could often be found enjoying a round of golf at Mountaineer’s Woodview Golf Course.

Above all, Robert was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He adored his grandchildren and was a constant presence in their lives, cheering them on in every activity.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his son, Robert Travaglino, and brother Saverio Travaglino.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Arlene DiBattista Travaglino, whom he married on December 20, 1958; together they shared sixty-six years of marriage, his daughter Gina Travaglino (David Zagula) of Weirton, granddaughter Francesca Stewart, grandson Nathaniel Childers, and his fiancée, Kayelee Austin.

Friends can visit Robert’s family on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 1:00 pm until the time of his 3:00 pm Liturgy of the Word Service at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. 26062.
