Dear Edda and Family, I am so very sad to hear of the passing of your wonderful son. I have such good memories of Robert when he was a student at Weir High. He was a pleasure to have in class. After he graduated and then worked at Kroger for awhile, he never failed to say hello and always had a smile when he saw me shopping there. We would chat for several minutes while he went about his job of putting out fresh produce. We always found something to talk and laugh about. I knew that he was sick, and during these last several weeks I’ve been praying for all of you. I hope that these prayers help you through this sad time. I will always remember Robert with a smile. He was truly a good person. God Bless, Mary Lou (LaMantia) James
My thoughts and prayers are with the D’Amico family. Bob was a part of our family here at the 758 Airlift Squadron, and his loss has affected us greatly. Bob was a true hero in every sense of the word, and he will be sorely missed.
Dear Edda and Roseann, I am so sorry to read about your loss. I pray that God will comfort your family at this time. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Jeanie
D’Amico family – Rob always had a smile and kind words. We were blessed with the kind of friendship that always remained close – even when we didn’t see each other for a long time. He tried to teach me how to golf when we were in high school, but that didn’t work out too well so he taught me how to drive the golfcart instead. I have many great memories of Rob and will miss him. My prayers are with all of you at this sad time.
We are thinking of you and wishing you peace during this difficult time.
My thoughts and prayers are with Bob’s wife, daughter, and family. As a former C-130 Loadmaster and contractor here at the Pittsburgh Air Force Reserve Base; I worked with Bob on many occasions, he was a true professional who will be greatly missed!

I’m so sorry about the passing away of a great man and a good loadmaster.
Dear D’Amico Family and Friends, No words can express the recent loss of a Husband, Father, Brother, Cousin, Friend and a GREAT MAN. Everyone Bob has touched has been changed in some way. His love of Family, God and Country come to mind, along with his stamp collection, the Minnesota Vikings and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Those of us that flew with Bob will never forget experiences like RED FLAG and CORONET OAK. This country has indeed lost a TRUE HERO. Bob was a Warrior to the end. I recently heard the following: “A man that never quits is a man that is never defeated.” We will miss you deeply. Love, Dale and Joanne
“Death is at once The end of the body’s Old journey And the beginning of the soul’s New journey.” Dear Family, I sent my thoughts and prayers to all of you. “Robert” loved life; and all loved Robert. It is a shame to see such a gentle and loving person succumb to an early exit. Robert would want us to be strong and carry on. Robert would want us to find some sort of explanation for all of us; and to accept this tragedy. And most of all, Robert would want us to know that he loved all of us; especially his daughter. May God give all of us the stength to accept this. And may his family know that Robert is looking down on us; knowing that the agony and pain is over. He is in the promised land. My condolences to all of you! (Cousin) Mike
Lisa and Family, We have given back to the Lord a Great Father, Husband and Son. And for myself a true friend! Bob was the most sincere and kindest person any of us had ever met! He will be in my life in spirit until I also pass from this earth. I loved him like a brother which he truely was to all of us! May the Lord be with you in this time of sorrow Lisa and may Bob’s soul rest in peace.

Words can not express how deeply sorry we are for your loss. Throughout the years of being neighbors, we have valued Robert’s friendship, kindness and thoughtfulness. We will always keep his memories held deeply within our hearts, reminding us of how life should be lived.
Dear Edda, Roseann, Lisa and Natalie: May God bless you and keep you strong at this time. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Robert was truely a wonderful individual. I can’t help but to look back at all the times we’ve shard and smile. He was like family to me and I loved him like a brother. I know that he would want nothing but the best for us. He would not want to see us sad at this time, but happy for he is in a much better place now smiling down. That was just the kind of man that he was and still is in our hearts. May he rest peacefully. Love always, Lynn
Dearest Lisa & Natalie, The sun may not be shining too brightly today in your hearts but please know that you are so very loved. While I didn’t have the opportunity to share many conversations with Bob, I did chat with him a couple of times at the dance studio while he waited for Natalie. I believe golfing was part of that conversation. 🙂 This was early on in his illness and yet he demonstrated such strength, happiness and a true zest for life. I value your friendship Lisa and please know that I am thinking of you! And while I am not sure what I can do to help, one thing is for sure….I will be waiting for you to return to dance class so that I can once again wear you out and put a smile on your face. Come back soon. Cathie
My thoughts and prayers are with you and Natalie. Even when Rob was in the hospital, it was important to him that you were OK, and he would be the first to be by your side forever, even if he cannot be seen. To the D’Amico family, I am so sorry to hear of your great loss. Robert was one of my very first friends in the mid 60’s and I remember him fondly as a person that was so much fun to be around. He was always coming up with the next game we could play. I remember long hours of great baseball games on the street next to his house. And, the time he rode his tricycle down the steepest street in the neighborhood and was so proud despite a few cut up knees. I hope the many wonderful memories you have will provide strength and comfort at this most difficult time.
I am sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. It was my honor to have served with Bob at the 911AW. I know what a kind and gentle soul he was, and how dedicated he was to both his family and his country. He was an example and an inspiration for those whose lives he touched. He will be missed.
To the D’Amico family, Our prayers are with you all at this time of great loss and sadness.
To D’Amico Family I am so sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. I have had the great pleasure of knowing him while we both worked for Krogers. He always had a smile on his face whether it was a early shift or the over night shift. Bob also had an adventurous side to him. I will always remember the time we went to the Laural Caverns to do some “caving”. We thought it was so cool to crawl around, and go in and out of small places. We didn’t realize the danger side of it all until we drove home and laughed all the way. He was a great family man, and a great friend to everyone that knew him. He will be sadly missed, but always in our hearts. Joni Roland (Berardinelli)
Lisa, Bob will be sadly missed, I really believe that God places certain people in our paths to make our journey through this life better and Bob did just that and we are better off. To the living, Robert is gone, To the sorrowful, Robert will never return, To the angry, Robert was cheated, But to the happy, Robert is at peace, And to the faithful, Robert has never left. Robert cannot speak, but he can listen. Robert cannot be seen, but he can be heard. So as you, Lisa & Natalie, stand upon a shore gazing at a beautiful sea- As the two of you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity- Remember Robert J. D’Amico. Remember Robert in your heart: Your thoughts, and your memories, Of the times that you loved, The times that you cried, The times that you fought, The times that you laughed. For if you always think of Robert, he will never have gone.
I am very sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts are prayers are with you.
Lisa, my beautiful niece; You are in my thoughts and heart. I know how you are feeling for I endured the questioning pain myself with the death of Zio Orlando. The only answer I have to share with you is to continue living and loving the beautiful daughter Robert and yourself have created. Robert remains alive through Natalie and your memories. I love you!
My first granddaughter, Lisa; I have lived many years and seen much pain. My heart cries for you in this time of sorrow. I prayed to God to take me in Robert’s place, for the two of you are young and I am old. Unfortunately, now was not my time to return home but Robert’s. I love you.
Dear Lisa and Natalie: You are truly in my thoughts and my prayers. I am so sorry for your loss and I wish you comfort, love, support, and strength during these hard times. Jacob and I recently moved from Houston to Columbus. We are still in boxes and lost power last week for 6 days due to the 72mph winds that blew through Columbus. We moved into a beautiful area with tree lined streets, but many of the trees were damaged, split, and lost large limbs. Moving has been far more difficult than I could have expected, but I know that it’s nothing in comparison to what you have endured. We hope to see you the next time we visit the Steubenville area. Please know that you have an open invitation to my home if you are ever visiting Columbus or just passing through. I would be very happy to have you stay with us. You’ve always been a strong woman, but please remember that it is OKAY to allow yourself to grieve. It’s just natural and necessary. Hopefully this quote brings you happier thoughts. Some of the quotes and poems just seemed so depressing. “Around every circle another can be drawn. There is no end to nature but every end is a beginning. ” Ralph Waldo Emerson Robert will live on through your memories and your beautiful little girl. Love, Cara & Jacob
It was a special gift to know and work with you. God Speed
