Robert Owen “Bob” Greer, 96, of Weirton died Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at the Valley Haven Nursing Home, Beech Bottom, WV. Robert was born on February 9, 1924, in Dennison, OH, the firstborn child to Owen L. and Helen Robb Greer. His family moved to Weirton when his father took a job with Weirton Steel. At the age of two, Bob developed a fever that left him with permanent hearing loss. He lived with this condition his entire life but he still went to work every day and provided for his family. He retired after forty- two years working as a machinist in the machine shop of Weirton Steel. He was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 year Club. He nourished his faith at the Weirton Covenant Church. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Lawrence Greer who died suddenly on August 16, 2011; and his brother, Teddy Joe Greer, and his nephew, Eric Greer. He will be remembered with love by his children, Larry O. Greer, Margaret “Maggie Howard, Robin DeCaria, and Lorraine Greer; ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1 PM at the Chapel Hill Cemetery Mausoleum, Weirton. Mr. Greer’s family would like to thank Valley Haven Nursing Home for all the love and care that they provided for Bob when he was in their care. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.
