Robert P. Wright of Weirton, passed away at his residence Saturday, April 15, 2023. He was 66 years old.

He was born on January 18, 1957, in Steubenville, one of two sons born to Robert N. Wright and Wanetta Taylor Wright Lamp.

Robert was a graduate of Weir High School and a retired pipefitter from Weirton Steel with over thirty years of faithful service.

His friends and family knew him to be an avid outdoors person, spending his time fishing, camping, and gardening; he did not always have the greenest of thumbs, but he was very diligent with his annual vegetable and flower gardens.

Robert found joy in playing his bass and attending jam sessions when he was able. He was also a fan of NASCAR and shooting pool, spending time cheering for his favorite driver Dave Blaney and running the table whenever he played.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Penny Merritt Wright.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Paulette Hans Wright of Weirton, his son Jason R. Wright of Weirton, and daughters Bobbi Cooper of Colliers, Amy Kinder of New Cumberland, and Jessie Ford of Weirton, brothers Jack Wright of Follansbee and Donald Lamp of Weirton, twelve grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Robert’s wish for cremation has been honored, and no services are planned at this time.

His burial will take place in Paris Cemetery at the convenience of his family.

Robert is in the care of the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV., 26062.
