Robert R. Klakos
September 8, 1947 ~ March 13, 2010
Robert R. Klakos, 62, of Weirton died, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Saturday March 13, 2010, at the Valley Hospice Care Center North.
Bob was born on September 8, 1947 in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late John Earl and Gladys (Gromek) Klakos. He was also preceded in death by his step father, Frank Zamojski, and a sister, Frances Karpinski.
Bob served his country in the Vietnam War with the United States Army.
He retired from Weirton Steel, after 31 years of service, where he was a foreman on the tin mill electrolytic lines. When Bob was not at work he enjoyed fishing on his bass boat and hunting. He also enjoyed spending time at his second home in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Bob was a member of the Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, VFW 2716, and the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club.
Surviving include his wife, Carol Tharp Klakos, whom he married on December 14, 1968; a brother, John W. Klakos and his wife Eileen; a sister, Delores Smith and her husband Charles; sisters-in-law Connie Gettinger and her husband Jim and Chris McFarland and her husband Ralph all of Weirton; aunts, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV.
Funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated 10 AM Wednesday at the Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church Weirton, WV 26062.
Reverend Father Kent Durig will preside.
Interment will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery with military services conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 200 Preston Avenue, Weirton, WV 26062 or to the charity of the donor's choice.

All my Love to Carol at this time. One of my favorite memories was when we were all dating, at the time and Bob got his brother’s convertible and we rode to New Cumberland with the top down to get ice cream and about froze on the trip going and coming.

Carol, We are so sorry to hear about Bob. The both of you together fought a long tough battle. Meeting a good and likeable person like Bob is very difficult. He meant a great deal to the both of us and we will always remember you both as very special Myrtle Beach friends which we truly enjoyed. We feel bad that we are unable to attend any of the services but be assured our thoughts and prayers will be with you over the next several days.

I am Bob Scheetz’ daughter, Debbi, and just wanted to let your family know how sorry I was to hear about your loss. It truly touched my heart to know they got to spend time together on Friday. I also wanted to let you know how very much ‘Bobby K’ meant to my father. He loved him dearly and spoke of him often. He was a great inspiration to him. He will be greatly missed.
