Robert T. Koon, Sr., of Weirton, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. He was seventy-nine years old.

He was born in Wallace WV. on October 18, 1944, to Harley and Paulene Smith Koon, Sr.

Robert retired from the blast furnace from the former Weirton Steel and was a member of the 25-Year Club. He also held positions over the years with Newbrough Photo, J&B Grocery in Frankfort Springs, and worked for the TSA in Pittsburgh.

If you needed to find or speak with Robert, he could be found playing cards daily at the Senior Center in Weirton, enjoying countless hours of camaraderie.

Robert enjoyed keeping his yard groomed during the summertime, it was a necessary practice. He was so good at maintaining his lawn that individuals would often ask him to cut their grass and he would always oblige them, eventually developing their requests into a personal lawn care service.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife Mary Pascarella Koon who sadly passed away on August 18, 2017, and his half-brothers Harley, Robert, Wilbert, and Larry Koon, and his half-sister Betty Bickerstaff.

Left to cherish Robert’s memory with much love are his sons Robert Jr. and Charles Koon both of Jupiter, FL. stepsons William McGivern of McDonald, PA., Allan McGivern of Youngstown, OH., and step-daughter Lisa M. (Leonard) Alexander of Monongahela, PA. niece Donna (Emmett) Cooper of Weirton grandchildren Amber, RJ, Justin, Abbie Koon, and Harlee Casimi, eleven great-grandchildren, sister Carol Boyer, step-grandchildren Shawn Michael and Nicole Lynn Alexander, Melissa Ann Zyski, Billy and Drake McGivern, and Robert’s Special Friend, Ruth Sperry.
