Robert W. Skidmore, Sr.

Robert W. Skidmore, Sr., 89, of Weirton died Saturday November 25, 2006, at his daughter’s home. Robert was born on December 27, 1916, in Sutton, WV, the son of the late Earl and Ruth Coberly Skidmore. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ora Belle Jackson Skidmore; his two brothers, Harry and Billy, and his granddaughter, Karen Skidmore. Robert retired from the Blowing Room of the Weirton Steel Corporation with 45 years of service. He served his country as an Army Sergeant during World War II. Robert favorite past time was fishing and camping especially at Tomlinson Run State Park and Tappan Lake. He is survived by his three sons, Robert W. and Joyce Skidmore, Jr., Carl D. and Karol Skidmore, and Dana L. and Margie Skidmore all of Weirton, WV; his daughter, Patty and Ron Brady of Weirton; his sister, Dolly Graham of New Athens, OH; eight grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Monday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street, where funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Tuesday. Rev. Tim Colvin will preside. Interment will follow at the Highland Hill Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, with military services conducted by the Weirton Honor Guard.
