ronald hoenig

Ronald Emig Hoenig of Weirton, a loving and dedicated family man passed away at his home on Monday, September 26, 2022. He was 88.

Ronald was born in Wheeling, on February 27, 1934, one of three children born to Robert and Florence Emig Hoenig.

Ronald grew up in Wellsburg, WV and graduated from the College of Steubenville.

After graduation he was drafted in United States Army where he served in Germany. When he returned to Weirton he worked at the Bank of Weirton and finished his working career as a clerk in the Blast Furnace of Weirton Steel.

On July 15, 1961, Ron married Barbara Majoris, in their 61 years of marriage they were blessed with two sons, a daughter in law, two grandsons, and a granddaughter.
His family was his life. He sacrificed so his family could enjoy a great life. He cherished the times he spent watching his sons play ball and helped coach them in Little League.

Everyone who knew Ron, knew his love for his Kentucky Wildcats. Ever since the days of Stan the Man Musiel, Ron was a diehard Saint Louis Cardinal fan. He never met a stranger. Residents of Marland Heights will remember Ron for his daily walks with his dogs, where he enjoyed chit chatting with friends and neighbors along the way.

Ron was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus 3734.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Hoenig.
He will be remembered with love by his wife, Barbara Majoris Henig, his two sons, Michael Hoenig and Robert “Bob” (Katherine) Hoenig; his sister, Geri Dunlope; his grandchildren, Zachary, Peter and Jenna Hoenig; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM on Friday.

Monsignor Joseph Peterson will preside.

Interment will follow at Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Weirton.
