Ronald Paul Higgins of Weirton, a loving son, husband, father, and an all-around great family man died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 14, 2021. He was 62. Ron was born in Steubenville, OH on July 24, 1959, the fourth of five children born to William A. and Jean Myers Higgins. Ron grew up in Richmond, OH, and graduated from J.U. High School in the class of 1977 and furthered his education at Ohio University in Athens, OH. While working at UniBank in Steubenville, Ron met Sharon Antonelli. They fell in love and married on November 26, 1988. In 1995 they were blessed with a son, Andrew, and blessed again in 1998 with another son, Nicholas. A certified public account, Ron worked in the banking industry before becoming the controller for Ball Corporation for 22 years. He was currently the controller of Bull Dog Rack Co. a position he held since 2015. In his free time, Ron enjoyed golfing especially with his sons. With a single-digit handicap, he was able to teach them the game. He also loved taking his family to the beach every year for a family vacation. Ron was a member of the First Church Christ, Scientist in Steubenville, OH. Ron also attended St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Weirton, WV with his family. All that knew Ron, will remember him for his quiet nature, quick wit, and his willingness to always help others in need. Ron was preceded in death by his father, William A. Higgins, and his infant twin sisters. He will be remembered with love and admiration by his mother, Jean Myers Higgins; his wife, Sharon; his sons, Andrew and Nicholas; his brothers, James W. and William “Billy” (Tina) Higgins, sister/brother in-law’s, several nieces and nephews and many friends. Visitation will be Monday 1-3 PM and 5-8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton. Funeral Liturgy of the Word will be held at 10 AM Tuesday at Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church in Weirton. If you are not fully vaccinated against COVID 19,masks are encouraged and recommended at the funeral home and at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Weirton Madonna High School 150 Michael Way, Weirton, WV 26062 or to Saint Paul Catholic School, 140 Walnut Street Weirton, WV 26062.   121. Been neighbors for just a little over 11 years, sharing a driveway. Ron has always been kind to us over the years. And I was shocked to find out the news today. Lost for words. Sharon and boys (men) if you need anything I don’t have a lot to offer but my door is always open. A hug. A shoulder. Whatever you may need. I’m sorry.
