Russell D. Lutz, 88, of 13 W. Tunbridge Court, Johnson City, died Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Mountain Home, TN. Mr. Lutz was a native of Wheeling and a son of the late William John Lutz and Margaret Arthurs Lutz Krone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Elaine Marshall Lutz, in 1986, his second wife, Hazel Yvonne Brewer Vine Lutz, in 2010, four brothers, Arthur, Paul, William and Jack Lutz, four sisters, Alberta Maine, Dorothy Myers, Rita Myers and Joann Lutz. He was a U.S. Navy veteran where he served in the Sea Bee's in the South Pacific during World War II. Mr. Lutz retired from National Steel Corporation in 1981 following thirty-one years of service where he was Superintendent of the River Docks at Weirton Steel Co. He was a former longtime member of St. Joseph's The Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton, and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church, Johnson City. Mr. Lutz was a former member of the Knights of Columbus, and was an avid golfer. He is survived by his son, Dennis R. Lutz and wife Carol, of Johnson City; his daughter, Paula Bea Kreyenbuhl and husband Mark, of Lexington, KY; one sister, Martie Romine Corrigan, of Lakeland, FL; five grandchildren, Whitney Wondergem and husband Eric, of Johnson City, Stacy Larson and Eric McPeak, of Johnson City, Russell D. Lutz II and wife Nicole, of Johnson City, Stephen Kreyenbuhl and wife Sidney, of Seattle, WA, and Kyleigh Kreyenbuhl, of Lexington, KY; six great-grandchildren, Louisa, Edward, Sara, Avery, Tori and Jack; many nieces and nephews, including Debbie and Tom Willett, of Brentwood, TN. The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday from 6:00-9:00 P.M. at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Monday, in St. Joseph's The Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton, with Father Dean Borgmeyer officiating. Entombment will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery, Weirton.
