Sam grew up in Weirton and graduated from Weir High School in 1963. He married a 1964 graduate of Weir High, Cynthia Kay Eureka on June 20, 1965. Together they were blessed with two sons, a daughter, and two grandchildren.
Sam retired with over 30 years with Weirton Steel, where he was an electrician in the tin mill. He also served in the Oakland Fire Department from 1974 until 1982, where he was fire chief. From 1996 until 2000 he served Hancock County as the county assessor. Sam also was a lobbyist and the owner of A1 Bail Bonding.
Strong-willed, determined, fun-loving, and cheerful, Sam loved to spend time with his family and cherished the times he spent at his cabin in Pennsboro, WV.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Kay Eureka Love on July 10, 2016, and his son-in-law, Phillip Richmond on May 12, 2017.
He is survived by his two sons, Steve and Robert Love; his daughter, Wendy Richmond, his sisters, Sandra (William) Dines and Janice( James) Figolia; and his grandchildren, Tyler Richmond, and Samantha Love.

So sorry to hear of Sam’s passing. I had worked closely with Sam on The International Food Festival in Weirton and also when we lobbied the state legislature to get the Veterans Bridge completed. He was very committed in his work for our district and gave so much back to our communities. May he Rest In Peace. Keeping your family in my prayers. Angela Carpini Reinard
We are thinking of you during this difficult time. Sam was a terrific guy, and he will be missed.
As my cousin, he was always known as “Pidge” to me. He was fun loving and happy and great to be around. But since I haven’t been able to spend much time with him over the years, I was dismally unaware of his personal accomplishments. Having just reviewed the other postings by his friends, it is extremely obvious that he will be missed by all. The public that he served is the beneficiary of his many accomplishments. Rest in peace, Pidge.
