Samuel J. Dato

Samuel J. Dato passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2009, due to acute respiratory failure. Father, grandpa, friend, chief he will be dearly missed. Born to Joseph and Angelia Data, raised in Weirton, West Virginia, Sam enlisted in the USAF at the age of 17 and served his country proudly. Retired Chief Master Sergeant Sam experienced the joys and tributes of meeting a lot of very special friends and seeing and enjoying the beauties of the world. Sam was Layton City Recreation Director, his involvement with sports and recreation touched many young people's lives and will always be loved and remembered by his contributions. Sam, being a very successful businessman, he lived and loved life to the fullest. Sam accomplished many goals and touched many hearts. He loved to share his stories and adventures of places and people he met throughout his life. Sam is survived by his children Tony and Annie Dato, Dominic and Kandace Dato, Lorraine and Kevin Burrell, Mary Dato and his very best friend and soul mate Benet AAgard, 13 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two sisters Anna DiAntonio and Mary Munyas. Sam is preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Ange and his son Joe Dato. Sam was laid to rest on Friday May 29, 2009. Per his wishes, a small wake was held by immediate family and friends at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary. Dad and grandpa will be missed by all. "In every good-bye, there's some sadness for what we are leaving behind, an ache in the heart for those people who've always been caring and kind. In every good-bye, there's excitement for all that we're longing to know, belief that beyond the horizon there's room to grow.
