samuel ''sonny'' cain, jr.
Samuel ''Sonny'' Milton Cain, Jr., 72, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, formerly of Weirton, died Sunday, August 31, 2003 at his home in Florida. He was born November 9, 1930, in Pine Grove, WV, a son of the late, Samuel Milton and Olive Barr Cain, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Jeanie (Copenhaver) in 1994. He was Methodist by faith. Sonny was an Aircraft Crew Chief in the US Air Force and served overseas in 1954 at the Air Defense Command Center in Margate, England. After 30 years of service, he retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a keeper in the Blast Furnace. He was also a member of the Weir High Band Parents. Surviving are his two daughters; Dawn (Steinman) of Allentown, PA and Lois (Fishback) of Novelty, OH; his brother, Wayne Cain of Indianapolis, IN and sister Ellen Eleanor Cain of Dayton, OH. He also has two granddaughters; Traci and Erin Steinman of Placentia, CA. Friends will be received 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00PM on Thursday at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday. Interment will follow at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV. Memorial contributions can be made the American Heart Association. Share tributes with his family at www.grecohertnick.com.
