Santo Anthony Gubitti, Sr., 90, of Weirton, WV passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Weirton Medical Center. Born January 10, 1925, in Weirton, WV, he was a son of the late Frank and Antonette (Bonacci) Gubitti. After many years of service, Santo retired as a steelworker from Weirton Steel. He served as Sergeant in the Marine Corp 77th Squadron during the Korean War. He was a member of AARP, Four Score, the Knights of Columbus, the senior center, V.F.W. Post 2716 and the Weirton American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brother Andrew Gubitti and sisters Katherine Cacace, Teresa Wilson, Frances McAndrews and Sue Pack. Santo is survived by his wife Mary E. (Majerski) Gubitti sons Santo A Gubitti, Jr. and Frank J. Gubitti, both of Weirton, daughter Gloria (Jim) Stacey of East Liverpool, OH; grandchildren James W. Hawkey III, Jennifer L. Hawkey and Brian M. Hawkey, three great-grandchildren, brothers John (Micki) Gubitti of McDonald, PA, Joseph Gubitti of Roseville, MI; sisters Florence (Roy) Scarfo of Weirton and Christina Novak of Roseville, MI. Visitation will be held Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Friday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton.
