Shirley A. Keifer
August 21, 1952 ~ March 18, 2018
Shirley A. Keifer, 65, of New Cumberland, WV, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Weirton Medical Center.
Born August 21, 1952, in Steubenville, OH, she was the daughter of the late Ishmael and Sophia Sawicki Anderson. She was also preceded in death by her brother, David Anderson.
After 30 years of service from the Mason Gang to the tin mill, Shirley retired from ArcelorMittal Steel in Weirton. She was the first woman to operate both a forklift and bulldozer in the Steelworks of Weirton Steel.
Shirley was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Church. Shirley and her husband Wayne did everything together, including going to the movies, fishing, hunting, and camping. She also enjoyed shopping and collecting figurine bears and caring for her dog Molly. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her husband, daughter, and her precious granddaughter, Elana. She will always be remembered as a very loving, giving and sweet person who would “give you the shirt off her back.” She was truly a wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and best friend.
She will be remembered with love by her husband, Wayne D. Keifer, whom she married in April of 1979; her daughter, Cheryl Ann Keifer; and her granddaughter, Elana Kniszek .
Visitation will be held Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Thursday at Sacred Heart of Mary Church. The Reverend Father Dennis R. Schuelkens, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton.

We shared so many laughs and good times over so many years while working at Weirton Steel. You were always so proud of Cheryl! You were so happy to be a grandma.Wayne and Cheryl and family you have my deepest sympathy.
