Sophia B. Rafacz

Sophia B. Rafacz, 91, of Weirton passed away Saturday, November 23, 2013 in her residence. Born in Chester, WV on July 14, 1922 she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Byk Delekta. She was also preceded in death by her husband John J. Rafacz, son Thomas Rafacz, a brother Joseph Delekta and grandson John Michael Rafacz. She retired after 21 years as a legal secretary for Atty. Arthur Recht. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Rosary Society, AARP, Greater Weirton Senior Center and P.R.C.U. She is survived by two sons, Robert Rafacz (Sheila) of Jacksonville, FL and Ted Rafacz and fianc Michelle Chaney of New Cumberland, WV; three daughters Teresa Muldrew of Orange Park, FL, Christine (Curt) Calkins of Tampa, FL and Karen (Lee) Garito of Warren, OH; a brother John Delekta of New Cumberland, WV; a sister Helen (Donald) Hogan of Denver, CO; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30pm. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10AM at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 200 Preston Ave. Weirton with Reverend Fr. Anthony G. Thurston as celebrant.
