Sophie H. Baranowski, 99, of Weirton, WV, died Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at the Weirton Geriatric Center. Born July 28, 1917, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Leokadia Marczewski Mankowski. In addition to her parents, Sophie was also preceded in death by her husband Chester F. Baranowski in December 2001, and her brothers John and Edward Mankowski. A homemaker, Sophie was a member of Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church, the American Legion Post 10 Auxiliary, and the Polish National Alliance. She is survived by her daughter, Loretta J. (Jim) Huggins of Steubenville, OH; 4 grandchildren; Sheila (Jeff) Wajda, Richard and Robert Cochrun, and Michele (Bradley) Palman; 9 great grandchildren; Zachery Wajda, Taylor and Austin Cochrun, Anastasia Lorraine and Alexander James Cochrun, Nathan, John, Bryan and Bradley Owen Paulman. Visitation will be held at Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church from 10 AM until 12 Noon Saturday. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 Noon on Saturday at the church. Reverend Father Larry W. Dorsch will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 162 Court Street, Charleston, WV 25301 or the Polish National Alliance, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Weirton, WV 26062.   1. Loretta and Jim, Though I cannot be there today, I have you in my thoughts and Prayers. Sophie was such a Special Lady. So Sweet, kind and thoughtful, and a Privelege to care for her. Everyone who knew her, loved her and She had made many Friends here. We will miss her, but know she us Flying High with the Angels. Also, will miss your visits and our “Mingo talks.” Take care!!
