Sophie Mary Wypasek, 86, of Weirton, a devoted and caring mother and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2020.
She was born August 9, 1933, in Weirton, WV., to Bennie and Mary Kowalski Baranowski.
Sophie worked outside her home as an Administrative Secretary in the Hancock County Clerk’s office.
Sophie enjoyed spending time with the ladies in her card club, wintering in Florida, crocheting, cheering on her favorite Pittsburgh sports team. Still, most of all enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports
.
Devoted and faithful, Sophie nourished her faith at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church
In addition to her parents, Sophie was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund “Wyp” Wypasek, on September 21, 2016; and her son, David Wypasek, on December 15, 2016.
She will be remembered with love by her three sons, Ron Wypasek, Edmund(Elizabeth) Wypasek, and Mark(Cindy) Wypasek; sisters, Betty Billie, and Irene Zdinak: seven grandchildren, Jessica (Travis) Gregory, Brittany (Eric) Jacobs, Stefanie Wypasek, Alison (Mark) Echelberry, Courtney, Jake, and Zak Wypasek; five great-grandchildren, Cayden Watson, Sophie, Penelope, and Lucy Gregory, and Luke Echelberry; step-grandchildren, Matthew(Patty) Beck and Michelle (Joey) Tucci, and step great-granddaughters, Cora Tucci and Lauren Beck; and many nieces and nephews.
A private family-only Liturgy of the Word Service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home

Very Rev. Dennis R. Schuelkens, Jr., V.E. will preside.
A public gathering around Noon will be held at Saint Paul’s cemetery immediately following the private service at the funeral home. Social distancing will be observed.

So sorry to hear about your mother. She was such a lovely lady. Once after Mass on Saturday your Mom and Dad found ourselves at Mario’s. I was alone and they invited me to join them. We shared a lot of good memories. I know it was so hard on her to lose your Dad and your brother, But now she is with them.
