Stanley “Sudol” Sierzego, 82, of Weirton died Saturday, July 13, 2002, at the D & D Quality Home Care, in Weirton, WV. He was born on August 11, 1919, in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late Stanley Sierzego, and Agnes Reznek Sierzego Sudol. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Lawrence Sudol; his brother, Walter Leo Sierzego; his stepbrothers, Stanley and Joe Sudol; his sisters, Clara Kois and Philamene Hrutkay; his stepsister, Stella Zanieski. Stanley retired after 41 years of service, as an operator on the # 5 Galvanized Line, in the Sheet Mill of Weirton Steel. He served his country during World War II, in the United States Army. Stanley was a member of the Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club, the VFW 2716, and the Knights of Columbus 3734. He is survived by his wife, Helen Mary Exterovich Sierzego, whom he married on August 9, 1947,and his son, Stanley G. Sierzego, both of Weirton, WV. Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 7 PM, in the funeral home. Funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated 10 AM on Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at the Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church. Rev. D. Kent Durig will preside. Entombment will follow at the Saint Paul Cemetery Mausoleum. The American Legion Post 10 Honor Guard, the VFW 2716 Firing Squad and the Tri State Marine Corp, will conduct Military Services at the entombment.
