Steve Paul Kmetz
May 26, 1925 ~ January 8, 2003
Steve Paul Kmetz, 77 of Weirton, passed away on Wednesday, January 08, 2003 at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born on May 26, 1925 in Weirton, WV the son of the late Andrew and Helen Evan Kmetz. His wife Margaret Williams Kmetz, two brothers and two sisters also preceded him.
Mr. Kmetz served his country in WWII and retired from the US Navy with 20 years service. He retired from the Weirton Steel Company with 17 years service. He worked in the Sheet Mill Department as an inspector. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Weirton, the Catholic Golden Age Club and AARP.
He is survived by his close friend Vicki Wolter of Weirton, a daughter Andrea Gail Burger and her husband James of Sanford, NC, a sister Helen Echelle of Weirton, two grandchildren, Mona Marie Spencer and Russell Charles Burger and one great grandson, Joshua James Spencer.
Visitation will be Friday, January 10, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St, Weirton, WV. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be Saturday, January 11, at 9:30 AM, at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 229 California Ave, Weirton.
Entombment will be at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV.

I never met Mr. Kmetz but often saw him at 10am Sunday Mass. I was always impressed with his dedication to God. And I’ll miss seeing him there.

I first met Steve several years ago while he was grieving the loss of his beloved wife. He was a member of a grief support group I facilitated at SJW Church. He was sensative, kind & concerned. Always contributing, not only in group but over the years. Only recently, he shared information with me which he thought would be helpful to a group I was facilitating. My thanks to him & my thoughts of him will last forever in my heart. Ruth Licata
