Theresa Dorich, of Weirton, a pillar of Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, passed away Friday, May 1, 2020, at the residence of her daughter, Juliana Halsey. She was 84. Theresa was born on October 31, 1935, in Weirton, the firstborn daughter of four to William and Julia Szymanek Sobieraj. She was a graduate of Steubenville Catholic Central. She worked outside her home as a dental assistant with Dr. Louis Anetakis and a medical assistant with Dr. Timothy Brown. Theresa nourished her faith at Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, where she was a member of the choir, the women's guild. She also spent countless hours preparing meals for the parishioners, picnics, repast meals, and Lenten Fish Fries. She will always be remembered as a strong-willed, loving mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, Michael L. Dorich, on November 8, 1996; son, Gerald G. Dorich, on February 2, 2015, and son-in-law Michael Fox, on January 26, 2020. She will be remembered with love by her two sons, Thomas G. (Norma) Dorich, Louis R. (Jeanie) Dorich; daughters, Michalene Fox, and Juliana (Michael) Halsey, sisters, Bernice Bradley, Frances Smalley, and Mary (Donnie) Rice; her eight grandchildren, Jennifer Dorich, Amanda (Daniel) McEwen, Katherine Dorich, Jason (Megan) Fox, Brittany Dorich, Michael (April) Dorich, Briana Halsey (Daniel Waltersdorf) and Georgiana Halsey; ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A private family-only Liturgy of the Word Service will be held Noon on Friday, at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV, with entombment to follow in St. Paul Mausoleum. Rev. Your mom was truly a pillar of SHM and a tremendous woman to me personally over the years, for which I will remain grateful as long as I live.
