Theresa Mae Dodson

Theresa Mae Dodson, 91, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024, at Weirton Medical Center.

Born on April 16, 1933, to Owen and Edith Ryan Gallagher, Theresa grew up in a loving family, graduating proudly from Steubenville Catholic Central in 1951.

Theresa dedicated over thirty years of her life to the Obstetrics department at Weirton Medical Center, where she enjoyed her work immensely and touched the lives of many new families in the community.

She was an active member of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, serving faithfully in the Christian Mothers group. Theresa’s devotion to her faith and her church was unwavering, and she was a beacon of kindness and compassion for all who knew her.

Known for her love of reading, Theresa found joy in getting lost in the pages of anything that caught her interest. She was a devoted wife and mother, caring tirelessly for her husband and son when they were ill, and her selfless nature meant that she would not hesitate to help anyone in need.

Theresa was a “straight shooter” who always spoke her mind, and those who knew her appreciated her honesty and candor.

Theresa deeply cherished the relationships she had with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She also had a special bond with her sisters, and their connection brought her immense joy throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Dodson son Thomas Dodson, infant brother Patrick Gallagher and brother Bernard Gallagher, sisters Alma Cashdollar, Rose Nichols, and Margaret Clark, son-in-law Terry Simmons, brother-in-law Bill Swanson.

Left to cherish Theresa’s memory are her daughter Patricia(James) Murphy of Riverview, MI., Sharon Simmons of Waterford, PA., sister Mary Katherine Swanson of Weirton, grandchildren Christopher (Angela) Murphy, Blaze Simmons, and Corey Dodson, great-grandson Liam Murphy, great-granddaughter Stella Murphy and former daughter-in-law Jeri Lynn Dodson.

Friends can visit Theresa’s family on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 1 pm until her 2 pm Memorial Service at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton.

Fr. Binu Sebastian will preside.

Theresa will be inurned at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Weirton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Theresa’s memory to Saint Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton, WV.
