thi zias

Thi Be “Hon” Zias loving wife, mother, and grandmother of Weirton passed away suddenly under the care of Valley Hospice Center North in Steubenville on Thursday, July 13, 2023. She was seventy-seven years old.
She was born on Monday, February 4, 1946, in Can Tho, Vietnam, a daughter of Huynh Van Hanh and Huynh Thi Viet. She was one of eight children.

Hon was a woman of faith, a devoted mother, and one of the most generous individuals anyone could have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church and spent countless hours volunteering with many of the church’s activities. The love, devotion, and respect she had for her Blessed Mother Mary were evident in the way she conducted her life and the lessons of humility she practiced.

Hon was well known in the restaurant community of Weirton, she was a server at several locations throughout the city including State Line, The Diner, and Mario’s. She was so well revered that it was common for people to ask for her to take care of their table regardless of the size of their party. She manifested life-long friendships with the interaction of the kind individuals of the Weirton area, they will deeply miss her.

Her family speaks fondly of Hon, describing her as a very generous woman, pleasant to all whom she encountered. She was very accommodating, making sure her family had what they needed and possessing enough love for everyone.

While in her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, baking countless styles of cookies for weddings, parties, and holiday occasions, and cheering on the Pittsburgh Pirates. Her affinity for baseball developed by watching her husband Charles coach their sons.

Hon’s understanding of the individuals she encountered throughout her left an indelible mark on them. They will remember her kindness and how she made them feel while they were guests in the establishments which she served.

Hon was preceded in death by her parents.

Left to cherish her memory with complete love and admiration is her husband Charlie Zias of Weirton whom she married on March 25, 1972, sons Anthony (Heather) Zias of Belcamp, MD., Benjamin (Melissa) Zias of Hilliard, OH., and Christopher Zias and his partner Kathryn of Columbus, four grandsons and one granddaughter.

Hon’s request for cremation has been honored.

You can visit with Hon’s family at 10 am Friday, July 21, 2023, at the Sacred Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church 200 Preston Ave., Weirton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am.
Fr. Anthony Thurston will preside.
