Thomas J. Snape, 82, an avid Ohio State Fan, of Weirton died Sunday January 17, 2010, at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born on September 6, 1927, in Steubenville, OH, a son of the late James and Emma Lamb Snape. Tom was also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Theresa Magnone Snape, on March 17, 2002. a brother, Paul Snape; and two sisters, Frances Anderson and Joyce Allman. Tom retired from National Steel, where he was a lay out man in the Weirton Steel Car Repair Shop. He served his country in the US Army during World War II. Tom was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club. He was a former semi pro football player on the Steubenville Pros, where he played center. He loved his alma mater, Steubenville Big Red, and his Ohio State Buckeyes. Most of all Tom loved his family, and especially enjoyed celebrating with them, at family parties. He is survived by his son Tom Snape, and his wife Judy; daughter, Donna Ficca, and her husband Greg all of Weirton; his four grandchildren, Greg (Bridget) Ficca, Tammy Moore, Eric (Fiance Melissa Dulaney) Snape, and Patricia Linn; his great grandchildren, Lexus, Trevor and Myleigh Ficca, Chelsee and Andrew Snape; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV, where funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday. Minister Larry Barkley will preside. Entombment will follow in Saint Paul Cemetery Mausoleum, with military services conducted by the American Legion Firing Squad. Share memories at www.grecohertnick.com
