Thomas Michael Rodgers
December 20, 1949 ~ November 15, 2020
Thomas Michael Rodgers, of Weirton, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020, at his residence with his family at his side; he was 70 years old.
Born in Steubenville, OH., December 20, 1949, a son of the late John Joseph and Mary Lou Diegmiller Rodgers, he was also preceded in death by his son Kelly Rodgers, brother John (Dan) Rodgers, and sister Patti Jo Hixenbaugh.
Thomas worked for the former Weirton Steel Corporation, respectfully holding the job as a Rigger for more than thirty years. He was a graduate of Madonna High School in 1968, enlisting later that same year with the United States Army. His son Casey always remembered his father being very proud of his time served in Vietnam with the Air Cavalry.
Thomas was an outdoorsman at heart. If he wasn’t watching his favorite westerns with John Wayne, you could probably find him in the woods during deer season. A quiet man who loved to garden and share what he raised will forever be known as a hard worker who loved his children.
His family who is left to cherish his memory are his sons Casey Rodgers of Weirton, Keefe Rodgers of Clarksburg, WV., daughter Colleen (Jeffrey) Bake of New Alexandria, OH., brother David (Jeannie) Rodgers of Burgettstown, PA., sisters Barbara (Charles) Kemp of Burgettstown, PA., Donna Wasik of Joffre, PA., Mary Ann (Daniel) Haspel of Weirton, brother-in-law, Michael Hixenbaugh, granddaughter Mina Bake, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received Wednesday, November 18, 2020, from 5-7 pm at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV.
Military honors will be provided by The West Virginia National Guard and American Legion Post 10.
All in attendance are encouraged to wear a face covering and practice social distancing.

I love you Dad. You will be missed.
We love you and miss you Dad.
It was my privilege to work with Tom in the rigging gang at Weirton Steel. We could always count on him to do his share and then some. You will be missed, buddy.
I was a classmate of Tom’s at St. Joseph Elementary and Madonna High School. I remember him as a quiet, gentle, kind person and want his children to know that the MHS Class of ’68 is lifting you in prayer this week as you celebrate your dad’s life. May your memories be a blessing.
My deepest condolences to Tom’s children, Casey, Colleen, and Keefe and his siblings, Barb, Dave, Donna, and Mary Ann. So sorry for the loss of your father and brother. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Tom and I shared love, happiness, and sadness during our ten years together. He was a kind, easy-going, and hard working man that I loved. We were married in October and went to the Pocono’s for our honeymoon. We roller skates, took walks in the woods admiring the colorful fall foliage, and thoroughly enjoyed the heart-shaped hot tub in our cabin. My fondest memories are of the Rodgers family outings; camping and boating at Tappan Lake, holidays at John and Mary Lou’s, and pool parties at Dave and Jeannies. Tom will always have a place in my heart and I will cherish all the memories of the wonderful times we shared. Debbie
Nothing but fond memories of this quiet peaceful friend. Prayers for his family as he rests in the Lords arms.

I will miss our dr.appointments, I would greet Tom as “You look just like my Dad”. Our conversations would go from “talked to Barb lately to seen Worm,(MaryAnn). Dave camping this weekend and where. Ask how my camping went and who was there. Go have breakfast at the State Line restaurant. Sometimes we had to go to Gus’s Goodie’s for creme sticks. He would try to hide $ for gas in my car if I wouldn’t take it. All in all I will miss you Dearly, He ain’t heavy, he’s my Brother!
Very sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. Though he had a quiet personality, he was a man of fortitude underneath as evidenced by his career choice as a Weirton Steel rigger and his service in Vietnam. I fondly recall playing alongside Tommy in the Weirton youth summer baseball program along with his father being my mentor. May God bless him forever.
