Tony LaPosta, 89, of Weirton, died Sunday, January 13, 2002, at the Weirton Medical Center. He was born April 15, 1912, in Weirton, a son of the late Fred and Lucia Bellasario LaPosta. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Frank, Orlando, Herman, and Robert LaPosta; and three sisters, Vera Henry Seal, Virginia Tittle, and Florence Cioppa. Tony retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as a Pipefitter in the Open Hearth. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club. Tony is survived by his wife, Sue Baker LaPosta of Weirton; one son, Anthony LaPosta and his wife Patty of Weirton; two daughters, Geraldine Banketas and her husband Tom of Weirton, and Sandra Riopelle and her husband Richard of Duvall, Washington; two brothers, Arthur LaPosta of Weirton and Ernest LaPosta of Washington, PA; one sister, Ellen Cline of Aurora, CO; and two grandsons, Rico LaPosta of Seattle, Washington and Michael LaPosta of Weirton. Visitation will be Thursday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Rev. Dr. Frank L. Shaffer, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Colliers, WV. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 3301 West St., Weirton, WV 26062 or W.A.A.R.S., 1305 Pennsylvania Avenue, Weirton, WV 26062.
