trent ciarrocchi, sr.
Trent J. Ciarrocchi, Sr., 97, of Weirton died Thursday December 25, 2014, at the Weirton Geriatric Center. Born on September 30, 1917, in Dearth PA, Trent was a son of the late Pietro and Assunta Mattioli Ciarrocchi. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Czerepak Ciarrocchi on November 21, 2014; his two sons, Trent J. Ciarrocchi, Jr. in 1968 and David J, Ciarrocchi in 1994; his brother, Geno Ciarrocchi and his sister, Jenny Carr. Trent moved to Weirton at the age of two. He graduated from Weir High School in 1935 and received his degree in Accounting in 1939 from Duquesne University. On November 30, 1940 he married Helen Czerepak and together they had two sons and a daughter. Mr. Ciarrocchi served as a lieutenant junior grade in the US Naval Reserves from 1942 -1946, and saw service in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. He retired from Weir Cove Moving and Storage where he served as Vice President. He was very active in the Weirton Community. He was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, where he formerly served on the Finance Committee, and organized the Holy Name Society and served as their first President. He was instrumental in the opening of Weirton Madonna High School, Millsop Community Center, and the Knights of Columbus 3734, where he served as the Chairman of the House Committee and Grand Knight. Trent served as Chairman of the Weirton Sanitary Board, the President of Weirton Area Junior Achievement, and the National President of the Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity. He served on the Weirton Park Board and was a member of the Ohio Valley Traffic Club, WV Motor Truck Association, Pleasant Valley Country Club, Williams Country Club, VFW 2716, American Legion Post 10, ISDA Weirtonian Lodge, BPOE 1801, Weirton Rotary, Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce; Three Score Seniors and the Four Seasons . In his free time Trent enjoyed, bowling, golfing, swimming and playing Bocce, and dancing with his wife. Trent is survived by his daughter, Gloria J. Ciarrocchi of Wheeling, WV, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 12 -4 PM Sunday at Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 1 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Monday at Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton Rev Fr. Manuel Gelido will preside. Interment will follow at Saint Paul Cemetery with military services conducted. Mr. Ciarrocchi's family would like to thank, Dr. Makar and the Weirton Geriatric Center for their wonderful care.     He was a great guy.

    I personally met him through the Upper Ohio Valley Italian Festival and he was very dedicated to the festival and a hard worker.
