ursula rokisky

Ursula Helen Rokisky, 86, of Weirton, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024. She died peacefully with her son and her daughter at her side.

Born in Coaldale, PA on October 21, 1937, she was one of four children born to Jacob and Helen Malinowski Szczecina.

While pursuing her studies in Pharmacy at Duquesne, Ursula’s path intersected with that of Lester J. Rokisky, Jr., a fellow pharmacy student. Their shared academic pursuits blossomed into a deep love, culminating in their marriage on October 3, 1959. Lester spent much of his career at Super X Drug Store, while Ursula served in various area pharmacies, with Hood Pharmacy in Follansbee being her longest tenure.

The couple was blessed with two children, and their family continued to grow with the addition of seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Sadly, Lester passed away on March 30, 2020.

A passionate golfer, she was a proud member of both the PVCC and Williams Country Club, where she held the position of President of the Williams Ladies Golf Association. She and Les prioritized traveling and having fun together with their many friends.

Ursula was a pillar of strength and independence, embodying the spirit of resilience.

She was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, and deeply devoted to her religious beliefs.

Ursula is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Lester, her brothers, James and Gene, and her sister, Lorraine.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, commitment, and strength. Her memory will be cherished by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her, including her son, Jeffrey (Robin) Rokisky, of Weirton, and her daughter, Leslie (Shawn) Boltey, of Pittsburgh, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ursula absolutely adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with her beloved dogs, who were her constant companions.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon on Saturday, January 27th, at Saint Joseph the Worker Church.

Interment will follow at Saint Paul’s Cemetery in Weirton.

Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, or to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
