Vera E. Klash, 77, of Weirton died Friday, February 20, 2004, at the Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. She was born on July 8, 1926, in Belmont County, OH, the daughter of the late Lycurgus and Kathryn (Phillips) Moore. Vera was also preceded in death by her husband, James F. Klash on May 25, 1990; four brothers, Zing, Ferrell, Harry, and Herman Moore; two sisters, Vesta Neptune and Zoalo Berry. Vera graduated from Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. She was employed as a registered nurse at the Ohio Valley Hospital and Saint John Medical Center in Steubenville. She was the Head Nurse of IV Therapy until her retirement in 1987. She is a member of Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, Saint Paul Christian Mothers, and Wheeling Hospital Alumni Association. Surviving includes her son Stephen Klash of Belleville, MI; her daughter, Sally, and her husband Kenneth Waszczak, of Weirton, WV; her sister, Golden Seal of Berlin Heights, OH; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 7-9 PM Sunday and 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Tuesday at the Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weirton. Rev. Fr. Tony Thurston will preside. Interment will follow at the Saint Paul Cemetery, Weirton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church, 140 Walnut Street Weirton, WV 26062.   7. I remember Mrs. Klash coming to St. Joseph basketball games when we were coached by her husband. I still have the trophies from those victories she was apart of. I can’t believe that was 23 years ago already.
