Vincent Stanley Soplinski, 88, of Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 8, 2024, at Weirton Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 3, 1936, in Weirton, West Virginia, to the late Vincent and Rose (Stasiak) Soplinski.

Vincent was a graduate of Weir High School, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of hard work and dedication. Following his graduation in 1954, he embarked on a distinguished career at the Weirton Steel Mill, where his work ethic perceived him. For thirty-five years in the Tin Mill as an operator on the side trimmer, and as a Steward for the Independent Steelworkers Union for seven years.

He was a Democratic Committeeman for Hanover Township, a Township Assessor for one term and Township Supervisor for six years. In addition, he was President of the Termite Little League Baseball Association and coached for many years. Under Vincent’s supervision he was awarded a hundred year lease on the Termite Baseball Fields from Starvaggi, Inc ensuring the future of the association for the community. But his involvement did not stop there, he also helped reorganize the Booster’s Club of Burgettstown High School, serving as president for eight years and supported multiple fundraising committees. He took pictures for the Burgettstown Enterprise of the Pittsburgh Steelers games.

Vincent was an active member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Weirton Elk’s Lodge, belonged to the National Camping Club, Bounders United, served as Executive Vice President and helped form four new chapters that still flourish today. He was Chairman of two National Rallies and belonged to the Bounders of America, Good Sam Club, FMCA, and the Elk’s International Chapter of FMCA. Vincent’s commitment to his community and various groups showed as his effort of involvement was always 100%.

On August 3, 1957, Vincent married Lorraine Glazier, and together they shared a beautiful journey spanning over six decades. Vincent was a devoted husband, a loving father, a cherished grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he found immense joy in their company.

Vincent will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, friends, strong work ethic, and his kind-hearted nature.

He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, Penguins and Pitt Panthers’ Fan, and was able to attend two Super Bowls. Most of all he enjoyed Polka dancing every Sunday at Idora Park in Youngstown, OH with his wife of 66 years .They had the amazing privilege of traveling to 49 states (excluding Alaska) in their motorhome.

Vincent is survived by his beloved wife, Lorraine, and their children:, Michele Ann Soplinski, Vincent Charles Soplinski, Veronica Lynn (Michael) Skinner, Richard Stanley (Patricia) Soplinski. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Christopher (Kristen) Skinner, Aaron Skinner ( with partner Nick Spudich), and Bailey Soplinski, as well as his great-grandson, Jordan Skinner, nephews Steve (Kim) Balog, Joe Balog, and great nieces and nephews.

Vincent’s legacy of love, strength, and perseverance will continue to live on through his family.

In addition to his parents. Vincent was preceded in death by his sister, Bernice Balog

Visitation will be 4-7 PM Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton.

Knights of Columbus Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM on Thursday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM on Friday at the Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton.

Entombment will follow at Saint Paul’s Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Food Basket.
