walter truax, jr.
Walter “Chuck” Truax, Jr., 76, of Weirton, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at the Weirton Medical Center. Born May 9, 1927 in Weirton, he is the son of the late Walter and Doshie Harris Truax, Sr. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Robert in 1959; brothers Blaine, Theodore, Donald, Charles and Dallas Truax; and sister Barbara Snyder. After 25 years of service, Walter retired from National Steel where he worked as an Engineer in the Transportation Department. He was a member of the Paris Nazarene Church, the WSX 25-Year Club and served in the U.S. Navy. Walter’s survivors include his wife, Janet “Ginger” Dettorre Truax of Weirton whom he married on September 13, 1947; sons James Truax and his wife Carmen and Kenny Truax and his wife Karen all of Weirton and Randy Truax and his wife Teresa of Wintersville, OH; daughter Pam Zgurski and her husband Stush of Weirton; brother James Truax and his wife Sandy of Wintersville, OH; sisters Nellie Grey and her husband John of Hopedale, OH and June Irwin and her husband Tom of Weirton; six grandchildren: Nicole Cross and her husband John, Jaime Truax, Allison Truax, Zachary Zgurski, Tara Zgurski and Amanda Ludewig and 2 great grandchildren Taylor and Megan Cross. Friends will be received Thursday 7-9PM and Friday 2-4 and 7-9PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton where funeral services will be held at 11AM Saturday with Pastor Dana Snodgrass presiding. Interment will be at Paris Cemetery, Paris, PA. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association, P. O.
