William Allen “Billy” Larch, Jr., 62, of Weirton passed away at UPMC Presbyterian on Tuesday January 30, 2024.
Billy was born on April 29, 1961, in Weirton, WV to William A. and Matilda Billcheck Larch, Sr.
He faced life with courage and grace, despite being born with spina bifida. His indomitable spirit and infectious smile endeared him to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
In 1964, Billy was recognized for his remarkable spirit by being named the Easter Seals Child of the Year. This early acknowledgment foreshadowed a life filled with resilience, determination, and a commitment to living life to the fullest.
He graduated from Weir High School in 1981 and furthered his education at West Liberty State College and West Virginia Northern Community College.
Family was at the heart of Billy’s joy, and he cherished the moments spent with his parents and his brothers and sister and their families. Some of his fondest memories were created during family vacations to Myrtle Beach, SC.
A true sports enthusiast, Billy’s heartbeat for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, Penguins, and Panthers. His cheers echoed through the house whenever his favorite teams were playing. Whether it was football, baseball, or hockey, Billy’s passion for sports was a testament to his unwavering loyalty to the Pittsburgh teams.
Billy also found solace in simple pleasures—a good cup of coffee, usually two pots a day, and the nostalgic tunes of Doo Wop Music and Oldies.
Billy faced challenges with resilience and embraced joy with an open heart. His legacy lives on in the memories of those who were fortunate enough to share in his laughter, triumphs, and warmth, including his brother, Michael (Debbie) Larch; his sister, Karen (Mark) Wansack, and his nieces and nephews, Jackie Brill, Michaelene (Sam) Larch- Goodge, William (Morgan) Larch, George and John Wansack.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his brother, Richard G. “Rick” Brill.
