William Eugene “Bill” Riddle, 83, of Weirton, WV passed away at his home on November 13, 2023.
Born on September 21, 1940, in Steubenville, Ohio, Bill was one of two children born to George Samuel Riddle and Pauline Marie Semanak Riddle – Seccuro.
Bill was a graduate of Weir High School. In 1959 he enlisted and served four years in the United States Navy.
Bill’s dedication to his craft was evident throughout his career as a skilled carpenter. For many years, he diligently served the construction industry, leaving behind a legacy of craftsmanship and integrity. His remarkable workmanship and attention to detail allowed him to flourish in his occupation, leading him to become a valued member of the Carpenter Union Local 3.
Outside of his profession, Bill found solace and relaxation in the kitchen. Cooking became his creative outlet, and he took great delight in preparing delectable meals for his family. His specialty, cabbage rolls, brought smiles to the faces of family and friends, creating cherished memories around the dining table. Additionally, his delicious soups brought comfort and warmth to the girls at the bank, reflecting his generous and caring nature.
Bill also had an adventurous spirit and a love for travel.
Sadly, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Matthew on April 23, 1966.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, George (Stephanie) Riddle, Amy (Larry) Gaston, and Susan Salonica, as well as his dear sister, Barbara Cebula. Bill’s legacy will also carry on through his cherished grandchildren, Matthew Riddle, Sarah Riddle, Tucker Salonica, and Hanna Salonica, and the mother of his children, Joan Hair Riddle.
Private services will be held at the convenience of his family.
Cremation will take place at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home Crematory 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV.
His cremated remains will be placed at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
