William Harry Chipps

William Harry Chipps, 85, of Colliers, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the home of his caregiver. Born July 9, 1921 in Fish Creek, WV, he was the son of the late Oliver and Rose Almond Chipps. William was also preceded in death by his daughter, three brothers and one sister.
William retired from the New York school systems where he served as a social worker. He was a member of the Colliers First Church of God and was an ordained minister. William also served in the Army and Navy during World War II.
William is survived by two sons, four daughters, one sister, several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, where funeral services will be conducted at 11AM Saturday with the Reverends Vaughn Davis and Ron Rice presiding. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens where military services will be conducted by the American Legion Post 10 and Weirton Honor Guard.
